What is High-Speed or Broadband Internet?

Broadband Internet and High-Speed Internet are two names for Internet access at speeds substantially higher than dial-up Internet. Higher speed of data transfer to and from Internet sites makes many tasks practical, or even possible, that aren't practical with slower methods of Internet access, such as dial-up. Examples of tasks that are frustrating with dial-up Internet but quick and easy with broadband Internet:

The higher your Internet speed, the more you can do in less time. Farm to Market Broadband provides service packages with Internet speeds that are right for a wide variety of homes and businesses in rural areas and towns. We offer standard and customized packages to suit your need and budget.

What is Wireless Broadband Internet?

Wireless Broadband Internet is high-speed Internet access without wires. This means you don't need telephone or cable lines to get the Internet to your house or office, so you don't have to call the telephone or cable company to get it. FMB does it all from the installation and setup to your connection to the Internet.

Because we don't need your phone lines, you can now talk on the phone and explore the Internet at thesame time! Better yet, get a VOIP phone and talk over the Internet at far less cost than the telephone company charges.

How It Works

You must have clear line-of-sight to one of our towers to receive the best possible signal strength and speed. This means that from your antenna you must be able to see our tower either with your unaided eyes or with binoculars or a telescope. One of our professional installation teams will install an antenna and circuit box, which we call customer premises equipment ("CPE"), at your site and point the antenna to one of our towers. From the CPE, we run cable into your home or business and connect it to an Ethernet port in your computer or in the router on your internal network.

We then transmit your signal tower-to-tower until it reaches our connection to the Internet.

Speed

Our wireless standard packages offer speeds from 512Kbs to 3.0 Mbps, both download and upload. We can provide much higher speeds with custom configurations. Please call our sales representatives for more details.

Always-On Connection!

Internet access through our network is an 'always-on' connection; you're never disconnected or dropped from the Internet. When you order our wireless Internet, you don't need a phone line and a modem, so there is no dial-up, no busy signals, no waiting, and no more being booted off by your current dial-up provider. You just click in your email program or Web browser, and your new email or the Web site you're looking for is there instantly!

Cheaper Than Dialup!

When you factor in the cost of a typical dial-up Internet service provider and the cost of a second phone line, neither of which you will need any longer, our tower-based, wireless broadband is actually less expensive than dial-up per unit of speed! Higher speeds translate into less of your time spent, and your time is valuable.

Better Than Satellite!

Our tower-based, wireless broadband is also less expensive and more reliable than satellite. Satellite Internet connections fade in rain. Our connections remain strong in rain and all sorts of weather. If severe wind or lightning damages our equipment at your home or business, as long as you're under contract with us, we repair it at no charge to you!

Access The Internet From All Your Computers

If you set up an internal network, all computers on the network will be able to access the Internet through the equipment we install at your site. We don't care how many computers you connect, because we charge per service package, not per computer.

Through an internal network, your business's or household's computers will have access to the Internet and to each other for playing games and sharing printers, files, and peripherals.

Availability

Currently our wireless access is available in Milam, Bell, Falls, McLennan, Williamson, and Burleson Counties, and surrounding areas. Please see our service area map.

How Do I Get Started?

All you need to get started with wireless Internet is a computer with an Ethernet port. The Ethernet port allows communication between your computer and our wireless equipment installed on site. If you have an internal network, our customer premises equipment will connect via an Ethernet cable to your network's router.
