Mac (Apple) Entourage

This section describes the configuration of Entourage for use with Farm to Market email servers.

Entourage 2008 allows configuration either manually or with a built in assistant. If this is the first time an account has been configured, Entourage will direct the user to assisted setup. However, a user may change to the manual setup by using the configure account manually button in the setup assistant.

Preliminary setup is common to both manual and setup assistant procedures and is presented here as General Setup. Following the General Setup section, are the Setup Assistant, Manual Setup and SMTP Authentication setup sections. Farm to Market Broadband now requires SMTP authentication in order to further prevent unauthorized access to email servers and as a spam email deterrent.

General Setup

1. Start Entourage.
   
2. In the Menu bar click Tools then Accounts, the accounts window is displayed.
   
3. Click the New button. One of two windows will be displayed:
4. Basic manual setup window.
   
5. Assisted setup window.
   
6. Proceed to either Basic Manual Setup or Assisted Setup as needed.

Assisted Setup

1. Enter the full email address of the account. Customers who host their domain with Farm to Market Broadband should replace farm-market.net with their domain name.
2. Click on the right arrow. Entourage will attempt to configure the account automatically but likely will fail and will display the following window.
   
3. Click on the right arrow and the "verify and complete settings" window will be displayed.
   
4. Enter the proper information using the example above. Customers who host a domain with Farm to Market Broadband should substitute their domain in place of farm-market.net.
5. Click the right arrow, the "Optional Verify Settings" window is displayed.
   
6. Do not verify at this time as the setup is not complete.
7. Click the right arrow, the next Verify settings window is displayed.
   
8. Click skip and the Setup Complete window will be displayed.
   
9. The account name may be changed as it is for the users own use.
10. If this is the primary email account, click the box next to "Include this account in my send and receive...".
11. Click Finish. Entourage will display the Accounts window with your new account.
    
12. This completes the assisted set up.
13. Double click the new account name and proceed to SMTP Authorization Setup below.

Manual Setup

1. After following the intructions, the first window displays the account type as POP. Click OK and the Edit Account window is displayed.
   
2. Enter an Account Name and Name as desired. These two items may be anything the customer desires.
3. Enter the information in the rest of the form as shown below. Note the E-mail address and Account ID must contain the full email address. Customers who host their own domain with Farm to Market Broadband will substitute their domain for farm-market.net.
   
4. DO NOT click OK. Proceed to SMTP setup.

SMTP Authentication Setup

1. The Edit Account window should be displayed as shown after following either method above. If the account was previously configured, click tools, accounts and double click the desired account.
   
2. Click the Click here for advanced sending options button and the smtp window displays.
   
3. Check the smtp server requires authentication and Use same settings as receiving mail server as shown below.
   
4. Close the window by clicking the square in the upper left corner.
5. Click OK in the edit account window.
6. This concludes Entourage email setup with SMTP authentication.
