General Email Policies

You can access email on our server from any computer with an Internet connection with your email application or via the Web in your Web browser at Farm-Market Webmail. On the "Welcome to Webmail" page, log in with your full email address, for example myname@farm-market.net, and password.

Our email server runs a spam filter to reduce the unwanted email you would receive without it. For further control, we recommend you run a spam filter on your computer or network. There are many spam filters available. Simply search for "spam filter" in your favorite search engine, such as Google or Dogpile. Dogpile will run your search through several search engines.

We have server-based virus protection intended to work with your own virus protection.

Bulk email by FMB customers is expressly forbidden and will result in the immediate termination of the account.

d. special character: ~ * ! # $ % ^ & ( ) + < = > ? [ ] { } ,.

2. If you use only one uppercase letter, place it somewhere other than at the beginning of the password.

3. The password must be at least eight and no more than sixteen characters long. Longer is more secure.

Why Have Rules?

Spammers (people who send junk email) and crackers (criminal hackers) use software that constanly looks all over the Internet for email accounts with passwords that are easy to guess. In several seconds the software can try thousands of passwords on an email account. It first tries words from dictionaries and popular names. Simple passwords are easy to guess. If a spammer's software guesses your password, they use your email account to send spam or for other purposes you would not like. The spam is difficult to be traced back to the spammer; it appears you are sending the it.

Following the rules above will make your password hard to guess. The bad guys will go on to other email accounts, because there are many with easy-to-guess passwords.

If It's My Email Account, Why Would Anyone Else Care?

A couple of reasons:

First, spam is sent in high volumes, which slows down the Internet connections of other users on the same network and the entire Internet.

Second, the managers of domains around the world protect their customers from spam by blocking all email from domains that send spam. If the managers of popular domains see spam coming from farm-market.net, they will block all email that comes from farm-market.net. The result would be that no one with a farm-market.net email account could send email to their friends, family, suppliers, or customers in those domains. (The domain is what follows the "@" in an email address).

How Can I Easily Create and Remember A Password
          That Complies With The Rules?

Start with a word or phrase familiar to you. Replace the spaces or certain letters using at least one upper-case character, at least one numeral, and at least one special character that seem to fit. When replacing a lower-case letter, you could use an upper-case version of it or a numeral or special character similar to the letter.

What If I Use A Password That Does Not Comply?

To protect the other members of the Farm to Market Community, we will block email sent from or to the account.

Thank you for being a member of the FMB community. We look forward to helping.
